Why You Should Avoid Sugar?

Although it seems incredible, from the moment of our birth we consume sugar, that is because breast milk is quite sweet due to the lactose that is generated by combination of glucose and galactose.

However, this type of sugar is not harmful, as these are calories that develop their function in the body by generating bacteria that will later protect us from other diseases.

Unlike the type of sugar presented above, refined sugar – which comes from sugar cane and which is exposed to processed chemicals to give the flavor and the components it has – is completely harmful for the body.

As it becomes addictive due to the release of dopamine generated in the brain after consumption, it can trigger serious diseases for the body, and without one noticing it, resulting in an excess of empty calories with no function in the body that  increases the risk of illness and disease.

For a long time, fat was talked about as the most important and risky factor for one’s health regarding consumption, however, sugar consumption has increased year to year, increasing the risk of developing cavities, dementia, Alzheimer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, insulin resistance, overweight, obesity and promoting inflammation.

For this reason, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended not to consume more than 24 grams of sugar per day, that is, no more than six teaspoons per day.

Refined sugar has nothing to contribute to the body because it does not have proteins fats or vital substances that fill up with the calories you need for the day, all you’ll do is develop an overexertion on the pancreas that is unsustainable and will not be able to resist at that rate forever.

In addition to what has already been said, sugar not only adds no value to your diet, but it can steal vital substances from you due to the biochemical processes by which it is subjected.

These processes consume important nutrients for the body such as Magnesium, Vitamin B or Vitamin C, thus consequences of a high sugar intake are that vital substances are empty and a deficit in other fundamental metabolic processes occur. These processes in turn, feeds unhealthy intestinal germs as well.

In short, when consuming sugars, prefer the natural sources of sugars found in fruits and vegetables, which also provide your body with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, and avoid all added sugars from processed foods such as sodas, desserts, sauces, dips…., even if it makes you feel good for the moment, it  will completely harm your health!
